The 24th Season | 2012-2012

The Orchestra began this season with its second Mexico visit, this time to the famous Cervantino, appearing in Querétaro’s Teatro del Republica, San Miguel Oratorio San Felipe Neri, and Guanajuato Templo de la Valenciana.

Nuevas Armas de Amor (Cupids New Weapons of Love 

Sebastián Durón (1660-1716)

The season was marked by the Orchestra’s first fully staged production, the zarzuela of Sebastián Durón Nuevas armas de amor (Cupid’s New Weapons of Love) directed by Gustavo Tambascio (Spain), sets by Nicolas Boní (Argentina), costumes by Antonio Bartolo (Spain), starring Carla Lopez Speziale (Mexico), Irasema Terrazas (Mexico) and Anna Popov (Dallas). “…a masterful and constantly delightful production…”

The orchestra gets its name from the present area of Texas and Mexico which was originally called New Spain by the Spanish explorers. We present music from 'Old' Spain in the land of New Spain.
